Dresden

Dresden is the capital of the state of Saxony (Sachsen) and is located along the Elbe River. The city has a long history as the royal residence of electors and kings of Saxony, hence the impressive historic buildings in the historic city centre with baroque and rococo elements. Dresden suffered massive destruction during the second world war (more than 90% of the city) and lost much of its heritage.
